"Stunning icon of renewal" - The Times
"Today it (Milwaukee) has shed its nickname as 'rust-buckle of the rust belt' and restored its bold city centre. It has also built a stunning icon of renewal in Santiago Calatrava’s lakeside art gallery, a great white goose wing seeming to fly out over the lake." -- The Times of London, November 2, 2004

Milwaukee region dominates Best Small & Medium Companies to Work for in U.S. -- only outdone by California

On June 25th, 2007 the Great Places To Work Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management announced their 2007 list of the "Best Small & Medium Companies to Work for in America." It could easily be said that if you are looking for a great business to work for in the U.S. you need look no further than the seven-county Milwaukee region.

The list "identifies those companies with the highest levels of trust between employees and management, where upwards of 90% of the employees say 'Taking everything into account I'd say this is a great place to work.'"

What is particularly interesting is to see the dominance of the Milwaukee region with the following four businesses showing up with the top 50 companies.

Medium-sized companies (251-999 employees)

Stark Investments, St. Francis, No. 4

InPro Corp., Muskego, No. 21

Small-sized companies (50-250 employees)

Runzheimer International, Rochester, No. 16

Kahler Slater, Milwaukee, No. 20

How does the Milwaukee region compare with the rest of the country? You need to skip any region in the U.S. and move up to looking at entire states. Our REGION is only outdone by the state of California which has five companies. The Milwaukee region, with its four companies, equals that of the state of New York.
